Magill Farm & Field Service Inc. is seeking one (1) full-time Farm Supervisor to support and oversee crop-production activities on our commercial farming operation. The position is based at 90029 Range Road 204, Coaldale, Alberta T1M 1N1. This permanent, full-time role offers $28.00 per hour for 40 hours per week, with work hours that may vary depending on seasonal and operational needs (including early mornings or late evenings).

Wages

  • $28.00 per hour
  • 40 hours per week, full-time
  • Atypical schedule depending on crop and harvesting cycles

Duties

Farm Supervisor Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate daily crop-production activities, including soil preparation, planting, irrigation, maintenance, and harvesting.
  • Oversee the safe operation of farm machinery such as swathers, combines, tractors, and other equipment used in grain production.
  • Train, schedule, and monitor farm workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Implement and enforce workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Monitor crop conditions, report issues to management, and ensure timely completion of all production stages.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of activities, equipment usage, and production progress.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and performing minor equipment and building repairs.

Specialized Crop Production Duties

  • Participate in hands-on fieldwork including soil preparation, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting grain crops (wheat, barley, canola, lentils, mustard seed, flax).
  • Monitor crop health, moisture levels, and field conditions; assist in implementing corrective measures.
  • Handle and organize materials and supplies needed for seasonal operations.

General Farm Labour Duties

  • Perform general yard and property maintenance including fencing, equipment cleaning, and debris removal.
  • Assist with building maintenance and farm-site upkeep.
  • Support various physical tasks involving bending, lifting, crouching, kneeling, and working on uneven ground.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous farm experience is required.
  • Ability to supervise staff and provide hands-on guidance in crop production.
  • Must have strong people skills
  • Must be physically capable of working outdoors in harsh seasonal weather and around large machinery.

Education

  • Grade 12

 

Work Environment

This position involves outdoor work in variable and sometimes extreme weather conditions, and requires safe operation around large machinery and rotating equipment.

Physical fitness and situational awareness are essential.

Must have the ability to safely operate farming equipment such as combines,  tractors, balers, augers, etc
