Continental Electrical Motor Services (Northern) Ltd. (see https://continental-electric.com) located at 8909 15 St. Edmonton, Alberta, T6P 0B8 has a need for 2 permanent and full-time qualified Electrical Motor/Armature Winder or Electrical Motor System Technicians to join the team.

Duties
· Repair/rewind various types of electro-mechanical equipment.
· Perform all work in compliance with the quality manual and technical manuals
· Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and or expected serviceability
· Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (AC or DC)
· Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, brazing units, VPI systems, balancer, vibration data collectors
· Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies
· Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
· Keep work area neat and clean
· Assist other mechanics or other plant personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
· Understand, perform, and retain various skills related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by Manager of Shop Operations
· Performing assigned tasks safely and efficiently
Education
· Journeyman certificate in the Electric Motor System Technician trade from any jurisdiction OR enough experience to challenge a provincial certificate of qualification (approximately 9,000-10,000 hours)
Skills and Experience
· Experience in the Service and Repair sector of electric motors
· Must have ability to perform the duties listed above
· Experience with:
o Large AC & DC Motors (Assembling, disassembly, commissioning, service, troubleshooting,maintenance, repair and testing) of electric motors
o Vibration analysis of electric motors
o Balancing of electric motors
o Machine alignment of electric motors
o Surge testing of electric motors
o Hi-potential testing of electric motors
· A valid driver’s license and own transportation.
· Good mechanical aptitude and comfortable working in a heavy-duty mechanical setting.
· Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
· Physically able to lift up to 50 lb.
· Flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
· Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
· Accountability and strong attention to detail.
· Self-starter, with developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong computer skills.
· Safety training, an asset.
Wages & Benefits
· Salary: $48.00 – $54.00 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications, paid biweekly.
· Hours of work: 40 hours per week
· Overtime: May be required and is paid in accordance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
· 3 weeks’ vacation annually, accrued as it is earned

· Safety equipment is required and will be supplied or subsidized by Continental Electrical
