Surespan Structures Ltd, located at 3721 Drinkwater Road, Duncan, British Columbia, V9L 6P2, are looking for three (3) full-time Fabricators / Welders.  This will be a permanent position. The applicants will work from the primary address as well as travelling to various construction project sites across the province of British Columbia.

 

Surespan Structures Ltd is working on heavy civil construction projects with a focus on bridge construction and remote access.  Producing pre-cast concrete bridges and steel deck portable bridges primarily for the forestry to producing large precast and prestressed permanent for diverse clients.  Our Company also produces architectural and structural concrete panels, earth and retaining walls, coping, road barriers, girders, pipe and pipeline weights, anchors and utility vaults.

 

Applicants must be willing to work both day shift and night shift, each shift will be 10 hours shifts, working 4 days per week and include some weekends

 

The shifts will be as follow:

 

Current day shift will be 10 hours working from 6am to 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday and Tuesday to Friday 

 OR

Current night shift hours will be 10 hours working from 4:15pm to 2:15am, Monday to Thursday 

 

Welding Duties (30 % of the time)

 

·      Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications

·      MIC, TIG and Stick welding techniques on heavy steel sections 

·      Operating manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment

·      Repairs on worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers

 

Fabricator Duties (70 % of the time)

 

·      Interpreting structural blueprints and bridge design drawings 

·      Cut, shape and assemble steel components using fabricator machinery such as saws, plasma cutters, ironworker, and welding equipment

·      Operating a forklift, manlift, overhead crane and other equipment to move material

·      Operate fabrication equipment such as shears, presses, brakes, torches, grinders, welders

·      Must be able to apply basic rigging practices

·      Adhere to WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) to ensure safe handling of hazardous material

·      Fabricate components specific to our Company

·      Strong attention to detail

·      Ensure quality control throughout the process until the final fabricated components are installed in the final product

·      Perform inspections, repairs and adjustments on existing metal components when required

·      Regular communication with project managers to ensure that deadlines are met

·      Maintain the work area in a neat and tidy manner

·      Travel to various construction projects sites across British Columbia

·      English is the language used in the workplace

 

Qualifications

 

·      Journeyman certificate from any jurisdiction as a welder, fabricator, boilermaker, plater or closely related trade OR A Canadian Welding Bureau ticket OR Another certification in welding and or fabrication OR Eligibility from Skilled Trades BC to challenge a Red Seal as a welder, fabricator or boilermaker

·      Fabricators with previous bridge building experience 

 

Wages and Benefits

 

·      $39.00 – $42.00 per hour based on experience 

·      Minimum of 40 hours per week/10 hours per day – 4 days per week

·      Paid bi-weekly

·      Overtime will be paid after 40 hours @ 1.5

·      10 vacation days per year

·      Benefits include Disability, Dental, Vision and extended medical insurance 

·      Annual bonus payable at discretion of management
