Description: We are a professional accounting firm that dives into our clients’ needs and expectations to provide customized accounting, tax and bookkeeping solutions and services.

Specific Skills:

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial statements.
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services.
  • Assist with the preparation of personal, corporate, trusts, and partnership tax filings.
  • Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.

Terms of Employment:          Permanent, Full time

Language of work:                 English

Wage:                                      28.00 per hour

Hours:                                     30 to 40 hours per week

Location of work:                   Downtown Ottawa

Education

Completion of secondary school education is usually required.

Completion of accounting and bookkeeping related courses and programs.

Work Experience:       3 to 5 years of accounting experience.

Position Overview:

As the Controller at Billion Financial, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing strategic financial leadership. Your expertise will be pivotal in steering our company through the intricacies of the financial services landscape.

 

What We Offer:

  • Full-time, permanent position, 30 hours per week at $148,200 annually 
  • Annual vacation of 10 days or 4% of salary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements to bolster comprehensive financial analysis.
  • Define the company's mission, strategic direction, and establish major departments with associated senior staff positions through policies and specific objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance grounded in a profound understanding of investment markets and emerging trends.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams to develop and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Efficiently manage the annual external audit process, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis, delving into intricate details to extract meaningful insights.
  • Provide impactful leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Continuously assess and enhance financial processes, applying a dynamic mindset to drive improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure strict compliance with financial regulations, leveraging experience in navigating regulatory requirements within the investment sector.
  • Skillfully communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders, translating complex financial concepts into clear and actionable insights.
  • Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in commerce, accounting, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of proven experience in middle or senior management, with a strong background in investment management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • In-depth understanding of financial reporting standards.
  • Knowledge background in CPA, CFA, and CFP is a valuable asset.
