RESPONSIBILITES

Tasks

·       Administer bedside and personal care

·       Assist clients with bathing, dressing, undressing and other aspects of personal hygiene

·       Assist in regular exercise, e.g. walk

·       Assist clients with feeding and ensure proper nutrition in accordance with dietary plans

·       Launder clothing and household linens

·       Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties

·       Provide companionship and personal care

·       Shop for food and household supplies

·       Assist clients with medication reminders as directed by healthcare professionals or family members.

·       Prepare and serve nutritious meals

Job Title: Home Child Care Provider (NOC 44100)

Employer: Yabes Residence

Term of employment: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week – Overtime Available

Work Location: Edmonton, Alberta (postal code T5T 7T1), On-site only (work must be completed at the employer’s residence)

Wage: $22.67 per hour

Work schedule: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Job summary

Yabes Residence is seeking a reliable and compassionate Home Child Care Provider to provide attentive supervision and support for their child with special needs. The caregiver will assist with daily routines, personal care, meals, and structured activities, and help maintain a safe, calm, and supportive home environment. This role requires patience, consistency, strong attention to safety, and respectful communication with the family.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe supervision and care for the child in the home
  • Instruct and assist child in personal hygiene (e.g., dressing, toileting, hygiene/handwashing) and social development
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks; assist with feeding as needed
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities and outings for the child that support learning, play, and development
  • Discipline child according to the methods requested by the parents.
  • Follow daily routines and care instructions provided by the family (and, when applicable, therapy routines recommended by professionals)
  • Keep records or notes of daily activities and health information regarding the child for parents (meals, activities, behaviours, and any concerns)
  • Tend to emotional well-being of the child
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Maintain cleanliness of the child’s areas (tidy play spaces, sanitize toys as needed, child’s laundry as required)
  • Accompany the child on walks or local outings within the community when required
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies; provide basic first aid when needed (training preferred)

 

Requirements

Education

  • College diploma (preferred), OR
  • PSW certificate (asset), OR
  • Secondary (high) school graduation with relevant childcare experience

Experience

  • Experience caring for children is required; experience caring for a child with special needs is a strong asset

Other

  • Ability to work independently in a private home and maintain confidentiality
  • Security/Safety: Criminal record check may be required
  • First Aid/CPR: preferred
