Mushroom Farming Consultant

Main Job duties and responsibilities

       Assess and improve existing mushroom cultivation systems

 

       Conduct Shiitake mushroom localization research, analyze data and lead development

 

       Advise on mushroom species selection based on climate, market demand and farm capabilities

 

       Evaluate and provide technical expertise on substrate preparation, spawn selection, incubation, fruiting and harvesting techniques

 

       Advise on infrastructure design and environmental parameters

 

       Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to fungal disease, pests and contamination

 

       Suggest nutrient amendments and sterilization methods to enhance mushroom growth

 

       Guide farm layout planning to airflow, hygiene and workflow optimization

 

       Monitor farm performance metrics, conduct yield analysis, and recommend corrective action

 

       Analyze market trends and new cultivation technologies, and advise on profitable mushroom varieties

 

       Educate and train farm staff in modern mushroom farming techniques and quality control

 

       Ensure practices align with environmental regulations and food safety standards

 

       Support farm management in planning production cycles and scaling up operation

 

Qualification and experience requirements:

     Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Biology Science

 

     5 years experience in mushroom cultivation, farm consulting or research

 

     In-depth understanding of the global Shiitake industry and its development

 

     Strong knowledge of spawn production, substrate management, climate control system and harvesting handling

 

     Experience with organic or sustainable farming

 

     Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills

 

     Ability to train and mentor farm staff effectively  

 

Hours: 30.00/week

Salary: $36.50 / hour
