  • Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management.
  • Several years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience, are required.
  • Responsible beverage service certification is usually required for managers of establishments serving alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities.  

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of a restaurant.
  • Determine type of services to be offered and implement operational procedures.
  • Evaluate daily operations, recruit staff, and oversee staff training.
  • Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance.
  • Control inventory, monitor revenues and modify procedures.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies.
  • Negotiate arrangements with clients for catering or use of facilities for banquets or receptions.
  • Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
  • Leading/instructing individuals.

Job Duties

  • Welcome clients
  • Determine the cost of the goods, services, or entrance and use an electronic cash

register, another cash register, an optical price scanner, or other equipment to

calculate the total amount that must be paid

  • Weigh bulk items and produce
  • Accept and handle payments made with a credit card, debit card, cash, or check.
  • Pack items or put them in bags
  • Provide clients with information
  • Compute the foreign exchange rate
  • At the conclusion of the work shift, tally the payments you received and compare it to
  • the total sales
  • When selling lottery tickets, alcohol, or cigarette goods, make sure the customers are
  • of legal age
  • Possibly replenish shelves and tidy the area around the checkout station
