Education: Completion of secondary school is required, First Aid and Health Care Aide Certificate are required

Job Description:                                                                                                          

  • Provide care and companionship for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence, or family disruption.                                                                            
  • Performing ADLs/ IADLs (Activities of daily living/ Instrumental Activity of daily living)
  • Administer bedside and personal care to clients such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing.                                                                       
  • Plan and prepare meals and special diets, and feed or assist in feeding clients.
  • May perform routine health-related duties such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in the administration of medications, and collecting specimens under the general direction of home care agency supervisor or nurse.                                      
  • May perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds.                
  • Knowledge of lifts (ceiling lifts/ overhead lifts)
  • Report to and assist managers for issues and daily job duties.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cooking Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, and a variety of snacks
  • Preparing individual dishes and managing all kitchen operations
  • Preparing tailor-made dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, and patients
  • Defining food recipes, designing meal menus, and deciding food portion sizes
  • Estimating customers’ food requirements, determining input costs, and ordering and monitoring kitchen supplies and equipment
  • Inspecting and monitoring kitchen and service areas
  • Hiring and supervising junior kitchen staff, and providing them with on-the-job training
  • Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Keeping the kitchen and other work areas clean and sanitized
  • Organizing and managing party events such as buffets and banquets

Education

No formal education required

Experience

1 to 2 years in authentic Indian cooking (vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and Indian sweets)

Salary

$17/ Hour 

Benefits

·       Overtime Pay (1.5 times the hourly wage after 40 hours of working in a week)

·       Vacation Pay as per Saskatchewan Standards (3 weeks or 5.77% of vacation pay)
