Quarterdeck Restaurant and Pub, a popular and vibrant establishment, is currently is seeking a dedicated and talented Cook to join our culinary team.

 

Position: Cook

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk

Location: 6555 Hardy Bay Rd, Port Hardy, BC

Compensation: $20 per hour; 10 days’ vacation or 4% vacation pay per year

 

Responsibilities:

– Create and cook full meals or individual dishes and cuisines.

– Craft dishes tailored to accommodate customers with specific food allergies or intolerances.

– Strategize menus, gauge portion sizes, estimate food needs and expenses, and oversee supply management.

– Conduct inspections of both kitchen facilities and food service areas.

– Provide training to kitchen personnel on food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling.

– Manage the procurement of supplies and equipment as needed.

– Oversee and guide kitchen staff and any assisting team members.

– Keep meticulous records of food, supply, and equipment inventory.

– Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and workspaces.

 

Qualifications:

– Secondary school preferred

– Previous proven experience or completion of related educational program

– Strong multitasking abilities

– Team player

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Instruct apprentices
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Order parts and maintain inventory
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation
  • Welding experience
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • Attach components and adjust new farm equipment
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks
  • Service attachments and working tools
  • Verify and repair emission control systems
  • Assist process and machine operators in mineral ore and metal processing
  • Perform other routine maintenance
