Bricklayer

HD Masonry is hiring a Bricklayer for their company located at 13126 100th Ave.

Surrey, British Columbia, V3T 1H3

This is a full-time and permanent position.

The duties of the bricklayer will be as follows:

 

  • Read sketches and blueprints to calculate the materials required
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, structural tiles and similar materials to construct or repair walls, foundations and other structures in residential, industrial and commercial construction
  • Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces
  • Lay radial bricks to build masonry shells of industrial chimneys
  • Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks
  • Line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks, refractory concretes, plastic refractories and other materials
  • Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing to walls or other surfaces
  • Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
  • Lay bricks or other masonry units to build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations
  • Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.

 

Education Required

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Certificate or diploma in a related field will be an asset

Experience Required

  • Minimum one year of relevant experience is required

Wage and benefits

  • Wage being offered is $37.50 per hour

 

Hours of work

  • Minimum 40 hours per week
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and on weekends

35.40/hr – 32 to 40 hrs per week

Responsibilities
Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed
Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
Load and unload goods
Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
Perform brake adjustments
Perform emergency roadside repairs
Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
Perform preventive maintenance
Receive and relay information to central dispatch
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
