Job Title: Mechanic, Truck

Nature of Employment: Permanent Full-Time Position

Salary: $34.25 per hour for 37.5 hours/week. Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay after 44 hours. May be required to work some weekends

Job duties:

·         Perform routine maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries, engine, and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle running

·         Inspect various parts or components of commercial truck-trailer systems including braking systems, wheel bearings, chassis, frame, cab, body, and steering mechanism to ensure they are in proper condition to operate effectively

·         Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, hoists, and jacks to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions

·         Measure truck emissions to ensure they are within proper limits

·         Replace parts, bearings, and gears along with the repair of vehicle cooling and heating systems

Language: English

Education: College/ CEGEP

Experience: 1 Year to less than 2 Years

Driver’s License required

Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will assist in overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations. This role involves directing food preparation, ensuring the highest quality of dishes, and maintaining exemplary food safety standards. You will collaborate on menu development, mentor kitchen staff, and ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. A passion for Indian cuisine is essential, and familiarity with French culinary terms and techniques will be an advantage. As a Sous Chef, you will be critical in driving our culinary vision and keeping our kitchen on the cutting edge of creativity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation & Quality Control:

    • Direct and assist in preparing high-quality, visually appealing dishes.
    • Ensure that all food items meet our quality and presentation standards.
  • Menu Design & Collaboration:

    • Help design food and drink menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
    • Offer creative ideas that elevate the overall dining experience.
  • Kitchen Operations & Supervision:

    • Oversee kitchen staff and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
    • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment; promptly address any issues.
  • Inventory & Ordering:

    • Assist with menu planning, inventory control, and managing supplies.
    • Order food supplies and ensure proper stock levels.
    • Utilize CrunchTime for inventory and cost management.
  • Staff Management & Training:

    • Schedule staff shifts and ensure appropriate coverage.
    • Train and mentor new employees, fostering a collaborative and productive team culture.
  • Problem-Solving & Leadership:

    • Address issues promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal impact on service.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership by guiding the team through challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education & Certifications:

    • College certificate in Business (or related field) required.
    • Valid Food Handling Certificate.
    • Smart Serve Certificate.
  • Culinary Skills & Experience:

    • Experience working with Indian cuisine is essential.
    • Knowledge of CrunchTime software is essential.
  • Language & Communication:

    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
    • Proficiency in Hindi and Punjabi is considered an asset.
