Job Title: CARPENTER

Nature of Employment: Permanent Full-Time Position

Salary: $33.00 per hour for 37.5 hours/week. Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay after 44 hours. May be required to work some weekends

Job duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding, and hardware
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments
  • Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
  • May prepare cost estimates for clients.

Language: English

Education: Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate. College Education or apprenticeship training will be an asset.

Experience:  1 Year to less than 2 Years

Job duties:

  • Evaluate & Review office administrative procedures and implement new procedures.
  • Setup work priorities, assign work to office support staff and ensure deadlines are met and procedures are followed
  • Carry out office administrative activities of establishment
  • Co-ordinate and plan for office services, such as equipment and supplies required in Transportation Company, maintenance, and security services
  • Carry out analyses and oversee administrative operations related to budgeting, contracting, and management processes
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating budget and maintain inventory and budgetary controls
  • Collect data to prepare periodic and special reports and manuals
  • May supervise records management and related staff.
