Embroidery machine operator (NOC 94131)

Main duties

  • Repair minor mechanical problems such as broken or defective needles
  • Set up looms or other processing machines
  • Notify supervisors or repairers of mechanical malfunctions.
  • Read loom patterns and prepare loom pattern mechanisms for processing.
  • Verify equipment's efficiency. Investigate machine stoppages.
  • Operate looms to weave yarn or thread into textile fabrics or products.
  • Make adjustments to machinery.
  • Operate large automatic multi-needle machines to embroider or to sew lengths of several layers of material.
  • Patrol machines and check fabrics or products for defects and to verify efficient operation. Set up quilting frames for large, quilted products.
  • Operate cutting machines to trim edges of quilts.

Transportation Manager

Transportation Manager Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term strategies to optimize transportation routes, modes, and resources to meet company goals and objectives. Establish protocols and procedures to address deviations from expectations and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Direct day-to-day transportation operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring shipments, to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness. Communicate with senior management as required and look for their directions.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, assign tasks, and make decisions to address any issues or challenges that arise during transportation activities
  • Efficiently allocate transportation assets such as trucks, trailers, drivers, and equipment to maximize utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with drivers, carriers, dispatchers, and other personnel involved in the transportation process. Arrange for the maintenance and upkeep of transportation vehicles and infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards imposed by relevant authorities.
  • Monitor transportation expenses, analyze cost drivers, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality. Control the budget and communicate with ownership when adjustments are needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with carriers, freight brokers, and other transportation service providers to negotiate favourable terms and ensure reliable service.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency, reliability, and performance of transportation operations, and implement improvements as needed. Train employees and ensure they adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other departments to address customer inquiries, resolve transportation-related issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Recruit personnel as needed.
