RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks

·      Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer

·      Read specifications to determine quantities of materials required

·      Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture

·      Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment

·      Measure, cut and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls

·      Assemble and erect scaffolding and swing stages

·      May advise customer on selection of colour schemes and choice of wall coverings

·      May provide cost estimates to clients

Job Requirements:

Job Description

•     Set up and operate machines to clean, count, and process shellfish.

•     Set up and operate machines to grade and weigh shellfish.

•     Check products and packaging for defects and to ensure conformance to company standards and perform corrective machine adjustments as required.

•     Record production information such as quantity, weight, date and type of products packaged.

•     Shuck oysters on the culling line for washing and tubbing.

•     Ensure a safe workspace by cleaning up work stations at the end of the day, and reporting any issues to the direct supervisor.

•     Move unprocessed shellfish from loading dock to the processing line.

•     Move graded product into secured wet storage areas.

•     Move wet stored product to the packing line.

Incidental work may include:

•     Harvesting, seeding, and maintaining oyster and clam growing areas

•     Beach clean up of any harvest or seeding materials

•     Loading and unloading harvests from vessels

•     Raking or evening cleared harvest areas to prepare for reseeding
