Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead is a working leader responsible for guiding a medium-sized group of technicians or assemblers. While remaining an active contributor on the line, the Team Lead ensures work is completed on time, to standard, and escalates issues that impact flow, safety, or quality. This role plays a critical part in meeting takt time and fostering adherence to standard work practices.

 

 

Job Requirements 

1. Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical or manufacturing technology or a related discipline.

2. 2+ years of production or assembly experience in a manufacturing environment of at least 300 employees.

3. Ability to read schematic wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings

4. Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and performance in a hands-on role.

5. Strong understanding of standard work, quality expectations, and takt time principles.

6. Good communication and peer leadership skills.

7. Willingness to support and coach others while performing production work.

 

 

Job Duties 

•Work alongside operators to execute daily tasks within assigned station or cell.

•Monitor team adherence to takt time and schedule, escalating risks or issues to the Operations Supervisor.

•Provide peer coaching, task coordination, and informal training support to newer or less experienced team members.

•Assist in managing material readiness, tool availability, and workstation organization (5S).

•Support quality checks and ensure standard work instructions are followed; report any deviations.

•Lead toolbox meetings, communicate shift goals, and update production Tier 1 boards as required.

•Model safe work behaviors and reinforce safety policies among peers.

•Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities led by the Supervisor or Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

* Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts

* Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly

* Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables

* Set up and adjust production machineries/tools

* Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances

* Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports

* Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)

* Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools

* Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

* Program CNC machine tools

 

Experience and Specialization

Measuring tools: Micrometers, Callipers, Calibre, Gauges, Verniers

Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM

Equipment and machinery experience: Boring machines, Engine lathes, Milling machines, Computer numerical control (CNC) machines
