Salary: $36.50 hourly for 30 hours per week

Qualification:

– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;

– Completion of secondary (high) school is required;

– 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a Hairstylist or a Spa Therapist is required.

 

Job duties:

– Manage day-to-day hair salon and head spa operations;

– Implement and improve company policies, operational procedures and rules;

– Conduct recruiting activities and interviews to hire hairstylists, head massage therapist, assistants and receptionists;

– Train hairstylists, head massage therapists, assistants and receptionists in job duties, the hair salon policies, concept and operational procedures;

– Supervise and manage staff;

– Direct and motivate staff;

– Schedule staff;

– Respond to phone calls, emails and clients’ inquiries;

– Handle clients’ complaints such as addressing their concerns and resolving their problems;

– Control and manage bookings for each hairstylist and head massage therapist;

– Maintain and manage inventory, and place orders for supplies and products on a weekly basis, together with the owner;

– Manage the cash register and payment system: opening and closing, handling payments, balancing cash, modifying and troubleshooting hardware and software;

– Prepare a daily sales report and keep the owner posted on a daily basis;

– Control and manage the tidying up and cleaning of the salon;

– Assist the owner in conducting marketing and advertising activities.

– Ability to Supervise: 5 to 10 people;

Wage: $ 36-38 CAD per hour, plus bonus and commission

Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of College is required.
  • Work Experience: 2 to 3 years of related working experience in hairstyling and salon operations

The main duties of a salon manager are as follows:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations.
  • Establish or implement policies and procedures for staff
  • Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair, straighten hair, blow dry hair, do keratin treatment.
  • Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to color, frost or streak hair.
  • Suggest hairstyle compatible with client’s physical features or determine style from client’s instructions and preferences.
  • Apply hair extensions with various methods.
  • Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair.
  • Train other hairstylists, hairstylist apprentices and helpers.
  • Plan and control budget and inventory
  • Manage contracts for advertising or marketing strategies
  • Address customers complaints or concerns

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for working conditions and physical capabilities and meet the following qualifications:

  • Proven related experience required
  • Additional experience or education is considered an asset
  • Efficient interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral  and written communication
  • Flexible, reliable, and a strong team player
