Truck Driver

RDA is seeking to hire 2 experienced truck drivers (short haul) for immediate permanent full-time employment within the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.

 Qualifications

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience as a truck driver

·         No formal education required

·         Must have valid driver’s license

·         Must have clean driving record (Driver’s validity license check, Driving record check – abstract) and Medical Exam

·         Must have AZ class license, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

·         Must have experience driving a roll-off truck

·         Strong knowledge of road safety regulations

·         Strong knowledge of Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, enroute, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports and accident or incident reporting

·         Must have experience using GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Trip recorder (on-board computer)

·         Must have the ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

  • Must have English language skills

·         Fast paced and physically demanding position, handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks, hand-eye co-ordination, attention to detail and working under pressure

Duties

·         Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials for local (short haul) transport

·         Follow routes and time schedule

·         Load, unload and properly secure cargo to ensure that they are not damaged in transit

·         Perform vehicle inspection – pre-trip, en-route and post-trip and oversee all aspects of vehicle

·         Monitor vehicle condition – inspect tires, lights, brakes and other equipment

·         Maintain accurate records, hours of service, distance travel and fuel consumption

·         Communicate with central dispatch

·         Perform minor emergency roadside repairs when needed

·         Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo

·         Ensure safe operation at job sites to avoid property damage

·         Complete logs and reports including Accident or incident reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, enroute, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports

·         Notifying management of any accidents, vehicle damage, parking tickets, or major maintenance issues promptly

·         Ensuring that the truck is always clean and well-maintained

·         Address customer concerns professionally

·         Train or guide team members in work techniques when required

·         Must adhere to road safety laws, regulations and company policies at all times

 

Wages & Work Hours:

  • The position offers an hourly wage of $37.00; overtime after 44 hours paid at time and a half. 
  • This is a full-time position, 37.5 – 40 hours per week.

 

Work Location:  

Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.
