Job Title: Long Haul Truck Driver

Nature of Employment: Permanent Full-Time Position

On Site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

Tasks:

  • Load and unload goods.
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
  • Perform brake adjustments.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods.
  • Plan or adjust based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment. Or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
