Concrete Finisher (NOC 73100)

Job Responsibilities

·       Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials

·       Direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade

·       Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement

·       Operate power vibrators to compact concrete

·       Level the top surface of concrete according to the grade and depth specification

·       Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages

·       Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools

·       Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures

·       Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces

·       Waterproof, damp-proof and restore surfaces

·       Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures

·       Estimate costs and materials

·       Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

·       Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.

·       Monitor quality control and ensure that all work meets industry standards and client expectations

·       Supervise and coordinate the activities of concrete crew members, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.

·       Train and mentor junior crew members to develop their skills and expertise in concrete construction.

·       Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.

·       Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

Education

  • 12th Grade

Experience

  • 2-3 years of relevant industry experience

Salary

$33.60/hr

Benefits

  • Overtime Pay (1.5 times of hourly wage after 40 hours of working in a week and or after 8 hours in a given day).
  • Vacation pay as per Saskatchewan Standards (3 weeks or 5.77% of vacation pay)

Load, unload, and transport construction materials. Perform pre-operational inspections, read blueprints to determine work requirements, routine maintenance work, remove rubble and other debris at construction sites, tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, and direct traffic at or near construction sites.

Support for Youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth, Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth, Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma
