Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Cut, clean and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing
  • Transport fish and shellfish to work area
  • Disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or other crustaceans preparatory to canning or further processing
  • Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight and pack fish in ice
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas
  • Sort fish according to species, weight and destination
  • Clean, sort and pack shellfish
  • Clean and maintain aquaculture enclosures
  • Dig shellfish from shellfish beds

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, icings, and toppings for breads, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.
  • Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders.
  • Bake mixed doughs and batters.
  • Prepare special orders.
  • Operate machinery.
  • Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, proofers, and dough dividers to produce high-quality baked products.
  • Frying donuts on everyday basis.
  • Frost and decorate cakes or other baked goods.
  • Draw up production schedules.
  • Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards.
  • Adjust oven temperatures and monitor baking times to ensure products are baked to standard.
  • Cook and finish prepared doughs and batters in ovens or other baking equipment.
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Measure and combine ingredients according to recipes or specific instructions.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and appearance of all baked goods.
  • Modify and develop recipes as required for seasonal or custom products.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring proper texture, taste, and visual presentation.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and workplace cleanliness.
  • Discard or rework products that do not meet company quality standards.
  • Monitor stock levels of baking supplies and ingredients; inform the supervisor of shortages or place orders as necessary.
  • Receive and store inventory according to proper food safety protocols (FIFO, temperature control, labeling, etc.).
  • Clean and sanitize all baking surfaces, tools, and equipment after each use.
  • Ensure the bakery area meets all hygiene and food safety regulations as per local and provincial standards.
  • Assist in planning daily production schedules based on customer orders and sales forecasts.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team for timely service and product replenishment.
  • Decorate cakes and pastries according to client specifications for special occasions (birthdays, weddings, etc.).
  • Create and bake gluten-free, vegan, or allergen-sensitive items upon customer request.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding ingredients, allergies, or custom order availability.
  • Provide friendly and professional service in a retail bakery setting.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new bakery assistants or apprentices.
  • Collaborate with other team members to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Atleast 7 months to 1 year of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

·        Completion of secondary school is required.

·        Knowledge of various baking procedures and methods will be an advantage.

·        Understanding of food preparation techniques.

·        Experience in using different baking tools, equipment and utensils.

·        Ability to work in a team
