Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Create new recipes
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Completion of secondary school or equivalent experience. 

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in food service, including supervisory duties.

JOB DUTIES

  • Develop strategies to adhere to work schedules

  • Oversee and coordinate the tasks of staff responsible for preparing and serving food

  • Instruct staff on job responsibilities, hygiene, and safety protocols

  • Calculate the necessary ingredients and supplies for meal preparation.

  • Ensure that both food and service adhere to quality control standards

  • Handle customer complaints or concerns

  • Keep records of inventory, repairs, sales, and waste

  • Supervise and inspect the assembly of trays

  • Set up work schedules
