Carpenter Helper (NOC 75110)

Main Duties

·       Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas

·       Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades required at construction sites

·       Assisting with various residential and commercial tasks

·       Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers, and glaziers in construction activities

·       Build foundations, install floor trusses, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

·       Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, cabinets and hardware

·       Assist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean, and pile salvaged materials

·       Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment

·       Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, such as mixers, compressors, and pumps

·       Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and remove asbestos and other hazardous materials

·       Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

Job Overview

We are a busy family in Surrey, BC, with two working parents and two children aged 13 and 5. We are looking for a caring, patient, and responsible Parent’s Helper to support our daily family routine.

The successful candidate will assist with childcare, daily supervision, and light household tasks related to the children, helping to create a safe, organized, and nurturing home environment.

Employment Details

·       Wage: $20.00 per hour

·       Hours: 30–35 hours per week

·       Overtime Wage: $30.00 per hour after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week

Education & Language Requirements

·       Completion of secondary school

·       English language ability required


Experience

·       1 to less than 7 months experience working with children in a private household or childcare setting is required.


Responsibilities and Tasks

The Parent’s Helper will be responsible for assisting with childcare and related household duties, including:

·       Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents

·       Supervise and care for children in the employer’s home

·       Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children

·       Assist children with daily routines such as dressing, hygiene, and school preparation

·       Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to childcare

·       Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens

·       Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home

·       Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents

·       Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development

·       Organize activities such as games, reading, crafts, and outings for children

·       Tend to the emotional well-being of children

·       Accompany children to school, activities, or appointments when required


Qualifications

·       Completion of secondary school education

·       Childcare training or a related field is considered an asset

·       Experience caring for children in a household or childcare setting

·       Ability to follow parents’ instructions and adapt to family routines

·       Physically able to perform daily childcare tasks

·       Clean criminal record and strong sense of responsibility
