Dufferin Roofing is currently hiring 4 experienced flat roofers for permanent full-time employment  within the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of flat roofing experience on commercial, industrial and institutional buildings
  • Ability to remove and install various types of roofing systems including:
    • Conventional Built-up Roofing Systems
    • Inverted Roof Membrane Assemblies
    • Modified Roofing Systems
    • Rigid pre-formed roofing systems
    • Single Ply Sheet Membrane Roofing Systems
    • P.D.M. Roofing Membrane
    • V.C. Roofing Membrane
    • P.O. Roofing Membrane
    • Modified Bitumen Membrane Assemblies
    • Hot and Cold Applied Roofing
    • Install Sheet Metal Flashings
  • Ability to apply waterproof coatings to concrete and masonry surfaces, troubleshoot and detect leaks, repair or replace roofing systems
  • Working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, continuous learning and   must have good work ethic
  • Work Conditions:  Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding
  • Work Site Environment: At heights, Noisy, Dusty, Outside
  • Own transportation is a requirement
  • Must have Steel-toed safety boots and hard hat
  • Weight handling – up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

 

Duties

  • Prepare roof for installation by removing old roofing system
  • Install, repair and replace roofing systems including those listed above
  • Install sheet metal flashings
  • Install and repair metal roofs
  • Using hand tools and power tools for installation
  • Apply waterproofing coatings to concrete and masonry surfaces
  • Troubleshoot and detect leaks
  • Adhere to all safety regulations
  • Weight handling can be above 45 kg
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Instruct apprentices as required
  • Fast paced and physically demanding position, handling heavy loads, large workload, bending, crouching, kneeling, repetitive tasks, hand-eye co-ordination and working under pressure

Wages & Work Hours:

  • $36.07 – $40.00 hourly depending on experience, for 40 hours per week. Wage as per collective agreement with Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local 30
  • Benefits (medical, dental, vision care) as per collective agreement

 

 

Work Location:  

Various commercial, industrial and institutional projects located throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.  Also Southwestern / Southeastern Ontario.

Job duties

  • Produce machining parts by programming- setting up and operating a computer numerical control CNC machines and manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, drills and saws.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders blueprints, engineering plans, models, material specification, orthographic drawings, reference planes and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to comprehend work orders.
  • Plan machining activities keeping in mind the work orders and engineering plans.
  • Refer to specifications, orthographic drawings and reference planes to understand the project effectively.
  • Work with geometric dimensions and tolerances to plan machining activities.
  • Check stocks inventory to ensure appropriate stock is available to start a machining project.
  • Anticipate needed stock and order low supplies.
  • Enter instructions and program mills and lathes including reference points to ensure smooth running of the machine.
  • Safely load and unload castings and raw materials into the machinery.
  • Meet tolerance environments of the machine by setting gauges and measuring instruments appropriately.
  • Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines, equipment and tools used in all processes.
  • Follow the machining process from the very beginning to the end to ensure quality of parts.
  • Isolate any piece that may not conform to the standards of the work order.
  • Troubleshoot machining problems during processes to ensure efficacy of procedure.
  • Ensure that all CNC machines are lubricated properly before each process’s initiation.
  • Create appropriate labor and time reports by following instructions provided by superiors.
  • Shape, sharpen and adjust machining tools so that required print tolerance can be achieved.
  • Provide tooling and fixturing improvement solutions as needed during each machining procedure.
  • Complete all reports and other paperwork associated with machining projects in process.

Terms of employment

Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

Education: secondary school required; higher education in manufacturing technology or similar is an asset.

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience as CNC Machinist are required (including, but not limited to programming, setting up and operating CNC 3-axis machine, CNC lathe, manual mill, manual lathe, and drills to produce parts in correct geometric dimensions and tolerances)
  • Demonstrable experience in preparation of CAD data for a CNC machine in SolidWorks
  • Thorough knowledge of creating CAM programs in BobCAD
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance of CNC machines
