Job Requirements

1) University degree;

2) CPA designation, or enrollment in the CPA PEP program and eligibility to write the CFE/graduate within 12 months;

3) Minimum two years of experience in a public accounting position;

4) Experience in audits; 

5) Accounting experience with nonprofits;

6) Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel;

7) Professional-level English strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are required;

8) Strong computer skills and willingness to master our Taxprep, Caseview, and Caseware software;

9) Willingness and ability to work overtime (paid) during busy season;

10) Previous experience in public practice preparing T1 and T2 returns, compilation, review and audit engagements; 

11) Previous experience with Caseware and Taxprep softwares; 

12) Ability to work independently and complete files from start to finish with minimal supervision;

13) Strong teamwork and communication skills;

14) Exceptional attention to detail;

15) Good time-management skills.

 

 

Job Duties 

– Prepare and file federal and provincial tax returns, including T1 (Personal), T2 (Corporate), T3 (Trust), and T5013 (Partnership).

– Manage full-cycle GST/HST return preparation and reconciliation.

– Oversee the issuance of annual information slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and NR4, ensuring compliance with CRA deadlines.

– Execute and manage various levels of financial statement reporting, including Compilation, Review, and Audit engagements.

– Maintain accurate financial records through meticulous full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end/year-end closing procedures.

– Ensure all financial reporting adheres to relevant accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS).

– Provide mentorship and technical training to junior staff and accounting technicians

– Support firm operations by assisting with administrative tasks and special projects as required.

– Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation and provide proactive tax and accounting advice.
