Main duties:
- Make metal frames for installing glass,
- Install prefabricated glass, mirrors, or other glass products in place on a building’s walls, ceilings, or exterior,
- Place glass panes into frames and protect the glass with moldings, points, or clips,
- Build in, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or similar replacement goods in commercial and residential buildings,
- Build in pre-cut mirrors and opaque and transparent glass in frames to create building exterior walls,
- Determine the type and thickness of glass, frame, installation process, and the materials needed by reading and interpreting designs and specifications,
- Tint glass and make patterns on glass by etching, sandblasting, or painting designs,
- Measure and mark or cut glass using glass cutters or an automated cutter,
- Repair and maintenance residential windows, commercial aluminum doors, and other glass supporting structures, and replace cracked or broken glass or weak seals,
- Operate auto CAD and other computer software skills,
- Estimate costs and materials.
Qualifications & skills:
- Completion of secondary school is required,
- 3 – 5 years of work experience in the related field.
