Steel Erector Helper, construction

Salary: $30.00 per hour, full time, permanent, regular, 30-40 hours per week

Requirements:  some experience in general construction environment: 1 -7 months                   Willing to work at various job sites outdoors, at heights, in summer and winter, high-rise building construction sites, physically demanding. Needed manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, weight handling more than 45 kg (100 lbs), able to measure in metric system, able to read drawings at basic level, write basic reports for daily work performance. Personal suitability, accurate, dependability, flexibility, reliability, team player, hardworking. Equipment and machinery experience or will train: concrete saw, large impact drills, hand drills for concrete and steel, magnetic drills, small coring machine, using hand tools in grinding steel and concrete. Clean driver license record is an asset.

Responsibilities

Load, unload and transport construction materials, clean op work area, perform routine maintenance work, remove rubble and other debris created by installation process, tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, assist to assemble, assist with erect structural steel, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment, assist  to unload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed and set in place, erect and install working platforms, mix and prepare grout and apply at the required location, drill or core through concrete slab and wall using impact drills, drill holes through steel membranes, practice safety at heights, carry steel components to the required work location using stairs, prepare and organize tools, equipment and components that are to be installed.  Work setting: installation of structural steel components into variety of building structures in industrial, commercial, institutional, residential buildings, condos and rental buildings,

Responsibilities

Tasks:

  • Plan or adjust routes using GPS and navigation systems to reduce fuel consumption and emissions
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Load and unload goods safely
  • Obtain special permits and required documents for international transport routes
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle condition including tires, brakes, lights, and cold storage units
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs when required
  • Maintain driver logbooks, cargo records, fuel usage, and travel distance reports
  • Communicate and relay information to central dispatch
  • Ensure proper tarping and security of cargo
  • Provide professional customer service
  • Process or receive payments for goods when required

Credentials

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:

  • AZ Class Driver’s License

  • Accident or incident reports
