Landscaping Supervisor-Landscape Worker

1867886 Alberta Ltd trading as Western Landscape located at 3 Rayborn Cresent Street, St. Albert, AB, T8N4A9 has a full time and permanent vacancy for a Landscaping Supervisor-Landscape Worker. Work will take place in the Edmonton and St Albert area. This is a full-time position at 30 – 40 hours per week.

 

 

Supervisory Duties (50%)

 

·        Ensuring safety rules are followed and filling out daily Field Level Hazard Assessment and safety information

·        Conducting equipment inspections as required for all equipment operated

·        Supervising crews of 2-5 employees, typically a 4 man crew

·        Contacting, organizing and planning the work day for employees

·        Engage in Training on installation techniques and furthering landscaping knowledge

·        Organizing repairs with mechanics as needed for damaged and existing equipment

·        Experienced with Trello, WhatsApp and other safety apps like SiteDocs and Fleetio

·        Posting daily pictures of work and reporting progress in Whatsapp Chats

·        Operating varying sizes of pick up trucks with varying sizes of gooseneck, flat deck and bumper pull trailers, with varying loads and equipment on them. 

·        Operating a single axle dump truck with air brakes  (Class 5 Driver’s license)

·        Operating landscaping equipment such as skidsteers and walk-behind loaders

 

 

Landscape Labourer Duties (50 %)

 

·        Mowing and maintaining commercial lawns weekly, including power raking, aerating and leaf cleanup, and fall leaf cleanup and pruning of plant materials. 

·        Installing retaining walls, patios, topsoil grading, sod installation, rock bed and mulch bed installation, planting of perennials, shrubs and trees, decks, fences and edging for beds. Boulder installation. 

·        Removing snow from sidewalks in winter for residential condominium complexes and business, and clearing parking lots with skidsteers, hauling away snow with trucks and sanding parking lots and sidewalks.

·        Operating and maintaining concrete saws, snow blowers, backpack blowers, small machinery used in landscaping

 

 

Education Requirements

 

·      Experience as a horticulture or landscape labourer or technician OR experience as a landscape supervisor

·      Certified Landscape Technician with Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (See https://cnla.ca/)

·      Grade 12

·      First aid certification

 

 

Experience /Abilities

 

·      Must demonstrate the duties above can be performed.

·      Must be comfortable operating heavy machinery and a fast-paced work day

·      Must be willing to apply pesticides

·      Clean Drivers Abstract.

 

 

Wage &Benefits

·      $35.40 per hour

·      Employer will provide relocation assistance with public transport
