Job Requirements:

1) High School certificate; 

2) At least two-years related experience; 

3) Mature, reliable, caring, and flexible (be able to work on weekends);

4) Ability to communicate in English;

 

Job Duties:

•     Supervise and care for children in employer’s residence;

•     Bathe, dress and feed infants and children;

•     Plan, prepare and serve meals for children;

•     May perform other light housekeeping duties;

•     Oversee children’s activities, such as meals and rest periods, as instructed by employer;

•     Arranging playdates and outings;

•     Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home;

•     Instruct children in personal hygiene;

•     Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development;

•     Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents;

•     Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities such as games, crafts, reading and outings;

•     Take children to and from school and appointments;

•     Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child;

•     Administering medicine with parent’s consent, if necessary.

Job Title: Early Childhood Assistant

Education:

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to 2 years

Experience:

  • Experience required

Responsibilities:

  • Assist co-workers with housekeeping and cooking duties
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
  • Maintain daycare equipment
  • Support early childhood educators in implementing programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
  • Assist in keeping records
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • Guide and support children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Submit written observations on children to educators or supervisors
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and any issues
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers
  • Plan and maintain an environment that ensures the health, safety, and well-being of children

Credentials:

  • Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
