Flat Roofer

Established in 1963, Dufferin Roofing Limited  has been servicing the commercial and industrial roofing sector with a team of experienced professionals skilled in various types of roofing systems. 

 Dufferin Roofing is currently seeking four (4) flat roofers for permanent, full-time positions to fill existing vacancies within the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.

 

Qualifications

·         Minimum of 4 years of flat roofing experience on commercial, industrial and institutional buildings

·         Ability to remove and install various types of roofing systems including:

o   Conventional Built-up Roofing Systems

o   Inverted Roof Membrane Assemblies

o   Modified Roofing Systems

o   Rigid pre-formed roofing systems

o   Single Ply Sheet Membrane Roofing Systems

o   E.P.D.M., P.V.C., and T.P.O. Roofing Membranes

o   Modified Bitumen Membrane Assemblies

o   Hot and Cold Applied Roofing

o   Sheet Metal Flashings

·         Ability to apply waterproof coatings to concrete and masonry surfaces

·         Ability to troubleshoot and detect leaks, repair or replace roofing systems

 

Duties

·         Prepare roof for installation by removing old roofing system

·         Install, repair, and replace roofing systems as outlined above

·         Install sheet metal flashings

·         Install and repair metal roofs

·         Apply waterproofing coatings to concrete and masonry surfaces

·         Troubleshoot and detect leaks

·         Use hand tools and power tools for installation

·         Adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations

·         Work at heights

·         Instruct apprentices as required

·         Must have Steel-toed safety boots and hard hat

 

 

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

·         Fast-paced and physically demanding environment

·         Handling heavy loads and large workloads

·         Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and repetitive tasks

·         Hand-eye coordination required

·         Ability to work under pressure

·         Work Site Environment: At heights, outdoors, noisy, and dusty conditions

·         Weight handling up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

 

Wages & Work Hours:

·         Wage:  $41.83 per hour (wage increases in accordance with the collective agreement with Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local 30)

·         Hours of Work:  35 – 40 hours per week (permanent, full-time)

·         Overtime may be required.  Paid after 44 hours a week, paid at time and a half. Double time on Sundays and holidays (paid in accordance with the collective agreement and applicable provincial legislation)

·         Benefits package (medical, dental, vision care) as per collective agreement with Local 30

·         Vacation and holiday pay as per collective agreement with Local 30

·         Successful candidates will be required to become members of Local 30 Union as a condition of employment.

 

Work Location:  

·         Various commercial, industrial and institutional projects located throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas.  Also Southwestern / Southeastern Ontario.

·         Travel to different job sites is required.
