Salary: $20.50 hourly for 30 hours per week

Qualifications:

– Ability to communicate in English and in Japanese orally and in writing is required;

– No degree, certificate or diploma is required;

– No specific credentials are required;

– No previous experience as a tour guide is required.(Training will be provided.)

 

Job Duties:

– Confirm transportation and accommodation reservations;

– Explain the policy and regulation of Banff National Park to Japanese tourists;

– Provide information about the history, geological features, ecology, glacier, and diversity of Banff National Park;

– Utilize microphones or other communication devices;

– Resolve itinerary and other problems by communicating with Japanese tourists in Japanese;

– Attend to hotel, train and other check-in and check-out procedures;

– Provide information on tipping customs, currency exchange rates, metric conversion and other details for Japanese tourists who are unfamiliar with these customs;

– Provide information about gift shops, restaurants, horse riding tours, and float trips and make reservations for Japanese tourists if requested;

– Co-ordinate recreation activities;

– Co-ordinate activities with local tour guides;

– Assist clients with special needs.

– Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: You are expected to effectively deal with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks with attention to detail; Tour guide is physically demanding, e.g. standing for extended periods, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling;

– Tours Focus: Sightseeing, Walking tours, Bus tours;

– Geographical Areas of Specialization: Canada;

– Number of Tours Guided: 10 tours and +;

– Transportation/ Travel Information: Travel expenses will be paid by employer;

– Work Location Information: Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Calgary Airport as well as various locations in the province of Alberta including rural area and remote locations depending on tours provided;
