Specialist Chef (NOC: 62200)

Number of Positions Available: 1

Terms of Employment: Permanent Position, 30 hours per week

Location of Work: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Wage: $30.16 per Hour

Language Requirements: English

Responsibilities: 

·         Prepare workstations for cooking.

·         Cook and prepare a variety of dishes with an emphasis on Italian or Mediterranean gastronomy.

·         Arrange food and ensure an appealing presentation.

·         Train kitchen staff if required.

·         Supervise kitchen staff and operations.

·         Work with a team of Cooks to handle varying levels of activity.

·         Maintain freshness of product and rotating old product out.

·         Keep inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.

·         Memorize recipes, policies, procedures, and standard food portions.

·         Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace always.

·         Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines.

·         Plan meal menus.

·         Place orders for food and kitchen supplies as required.

Qualifications

·         Completion of secondary school.

·         Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience.

·         Minimum of two years of similar work experience in the commercial food preparation industry.

·         Available to work day, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.

·         Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

·         Excellent communication skills.

·         Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
