3x Rope Access Technicians

Skyreach Window and Building Services Inc., located at 2857 St Clair Ave E., East York, Toronto, Ontario, M4B1N4 are looking for 3 (three) full time and permanent Rope Access Technicians (RAT) to fill the positions in building, cleaning and maintenance.  The work will be performed across the Greater Toronto Area. 

 

Duties: 

 

  • Rope access to hard-to-reach areas without scaffold or a work platform
  • Descend, ascend and transverse ropes for access and work while suspend by harness
  • Perform duties such as inspections, painting touch ups, washing windows, pressure washing, water proofing, caulking and other kinds of work at height or high angle.
  • Perform minor repair/ maintenance activities at height or high angle
  • Communicate effectively with customers and manager to maintain consistent workflow and customer’s satisfaction
  • Follow established safety rules and instructions
  • Window cleaning via rope access
  • Exterior building pressure washing
  • Post construction window cleaning
  • Building inspections & reports
  • Leak investigations and report to management
  • Assist with exterior sealant repairs
  • Assist with building envelope restoration
  • Exterior window cleaning of high-rise towers

·       Pre-inspection of RAT (Rope Access Technician) equipment for safety  

·       Show other technicians how to conduct rope access safer

·       Assist with snow clearing on sidewalks and front of buildings

·       Must be fluent in English as this is the language used in the workplace

 

Education:

 

·       Must have Grade 12 Certificate

·       Must have IRAT3 Level 3 Rope Access Technician to ensure job site are safe on rope access repairs/maintenance

·       Must have Work Positioning System Qualification from Ontario Window Cleaning Association to ensure job site are safe for window cleaning

·       Must have Ontario Working at Heights Certificate for window cleaning

·       First Aid Training, Working on Heights and Lift training (an asset)

·       Must have boatswain chair experience with two main support lines and safety

 

Experience requirements: 

 

  • Previous work experience as a Rope Access Technician
  • Not afraid of heights and able to work on ladders and suspended stages
  • Must be able to work while suspended in harness for extended periods of time
  • Be capable of functioning in climatic extremes 

·       Must understand Window Cleaning Regulations

 

Wage:

 

·      $36.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly

·      40 normal hours per week

·      Overtime to be paid after 44 hours @ 1.5 

·      Working from Monday to Friday.  Weekend work might be required and will depend on the workload

 

Benefits:

 

·      Increases possible based on discretion of management

·      10 days’ vacation / 4 % of gross salary

1x 2nd year Carpentry Apprentice

Sanpal Enterprises Ltd dba J and J Construction located at Unit 19, 220 Kaien Road, Prince Rupert, British Columbia, V8J 3P4, has a vacancy for a one (1) 2nd year Carpentry Apprentice on a full-time permanent basis. See our website www.jandjconstruction.ca.  The applicant will be working in Prince Rupert at various sites and extended services to Terrace.

 

Duties

 

·      Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools

·      Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials 

·      Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems

·      Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware

·      Assist in framing, sheathing and finishing

·      Practice job site safety 

·      Maintain a high standard of housekeeping habits that include work areas and tools

·      English is the language used at the workplace

 

Experience

 

·      1 – 2 years of rough or finishing carpentry experience as a minimum.

·      Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements an asset

 

Personal Traits

 

·      Work Safely and without guidance 

·      Have own tools and transport with a valid driver license

·      Be personable and able to communicate with clients and trades 

·      Have above average problem-solving skills and be able to overcome obstacles on complicated projects 

·      Be professional and respectful demeanour with clients, sub-trades, and crew members

 

Education

 

·      High School Certificate (Grade 12) 

 

Wages & Benefits

 

·      Base rate of $24.88 per hour, plus the following: Will include on each hour worked:  

o   12% ($2.99) standard holiday pay 

o   Benefit plan of $2.90 

o   Pension plan of $4.24 

o   Admin Fund of 0.30

o   Training Fund of 0.25

o   Rehab Plan of $0.04

o   Member Assist of 0.05

Total package per hour will be $35.65

·      40 hours per week, paid bi-weekly 

·      Should overtime be required, will be paid after 40 hrs @ 1.5

·      Worker will join the Construction Maintenance Allied Workers union once trial period is complete.
