CNC Machinist

POSITION TITLE: CNC Machinist (NOC – 72100 – Machinists and Machining and Tooling Inspectors)

SUMMARY OF THIS POSITION

Under the supervision of the Planning & Fabrication Manager, the incumbent will work individually and with a team to set up and operate metal-cutting machinery to build tools and parts of various machinery.

LOCATION:

The job will be carried out on site in Building C of PhiBer Manufacturing,108 New Hope Drive , Crystal City, MB R0K 0N0.

OUTLINE OF DUTIES

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and orthographic drawings.
  • Take inventory by checking stock to determine the amount available.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
  • Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, and attachments.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Basic Knowledge

The position requires the incumbent to have knowledge of, and experience with:

  • CNC Programming capability
  • Intimate knowledge of CNC lathes and mills

  • Strong in mechanical skills
  • At least 7 years of prior machining experience required

The ability to communicate well in English both orally and in writing is required.

Comprehension and Judgment

The work requires the ability to solve problems and to make independent decisions on a daily basis. Errors in decision making may cause loss and inconvenience to customers as well as the flow of production.

CONTACTS

The position requires frequent interaction with other employees. Sound judgment, politeness, respect, and courtesy must be exercised at all times.

PHYSICAL

Work requires routine interaction with staff in production, assembly, and administration. It also requires the use of a CNC Machine. Physical effort is required in carrying out related duties such as walking, lifting, and moving as the product is prepared for production.

RENUMERATION

This position would be an hourly position.

  • $26.72/hour
  • Work schedule – 40 hours per week

o Monday-Thursday

o 7:00AM-5:30PM
