Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto o/a 2178069 Ontario Ltd. is dedicated to teaching in the tradition of Mysore, India. AYCT opened in 2008 to provide a friendly home for Toronto’s Ashtanga Community, and now hosts one of the world’s largest Mysore programs, led by Level 2 authorized teachers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ashtanga Vinyasa Instructor will be responsible for delivering yoga classes. He/she will also ensure the ultimate oasis guest experience. The instructor possesses a warm and friendly personality with an interest in health and wellness. Our ideal instructor has trained in a variety of yoga methods, especially ashtanga and vinyasa methods.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiar with the  vinyasa count of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, and is able to teach students in the traditional method.
  • Familiar with the alignment and conditions of each posture, and be able to adjust and correct students’ alignments.
  • Familiar with the Sanskrit terminology of Ashtanga.
  • Be confident and able to offer safe hands-on adjustments.
  • Maintain a dedicated daily Ashtanga Yoga practice.
  • Motivate, inspire, and build relationships with guests as well as fellow team members.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, both in and out of class
  • Assemble supplies and equipment.
  • Attend to clients with special needs.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist with coordination of special events.
  • Schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Participate in promotional events, photo & video shoots, and campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Education: Completion of High School, some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
  • Experience: 2 years of work experience, plus Certificate as Ashtanga Vinyasa Instructor.
  • Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
