Wine Cellar Master

Job duties and qualification include:

  • A certificate or degree in winemaking from an accredited academic institution
  • 2 years to less than 3 years working experience in other winery environments (full time cellar work with experience operating pumps, presses, filters)
  • Strong mechanical skills in relation to winery equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, work on and around ladders, catwalks, uneven flooring, in hot, cold, and wet environments with typical winery chemical exposure and conditions
  • Ability to work in a changing environment
  • Ability to solve technical/processing problems as they arise
  • Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process
  • Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process
  • Experience with South America grapes and juices is required
  • Some experience in micro vinification and vinegar bleeding
  • Ability to supervise when needed

Position starts at $27.85 working 35 hours/week

Job duties

  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine type and thickness of glass, frame, installation procedure and materials required
  • Measure and mark glass
  • Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolds, rigging and hoisting equipment
  • Position glass panes into frames and secure glass using clips, points or mouldings
  • Assemble and install prefabricated glass on exteriors of building
  • Install pre-cut opaque and transparent glass panels in frames to form exterior walls of buildings
  • Replace glass in various products
  • Repair and service residential windows, commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures, and replace damaged glass or faulty sealant (glass replacement, window service work, window caulking)
  • Use swing stage and bosun chair for the above-noted work

 

Terms of employment

Permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week)

 

Expected Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

 

Wage

$28/hour

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

 

Education: secondary school required

 

Work Experience:

At least one year of experience as glazier

Demonstrable experience working with a variety of tools

Past experience in working in heights is an asset

Experience working with swing stage and bosun chair is an asset

Fall Protection training certificate required

WHMIS certification required

Swing stage and bosun chair certificate evidencing professional training is an asset
