Foreman/Woman, Decorators

Our company is looking for an experienced Decorator foreman/forewoman who will supervise workers and projects as well as co-ordinate and schedule activities within the implementation of specific projects. You will also be responsible for the recruiting and hiring of workers, and, related staffing actions; including arranging training. In addition you will be expected to operate CADD and other computer software systems, set up machines and equipment and, estimate costs and materials. Moreover you will be expected to ensure that health and safety regulations are followed. Other duties include the requisition and ordering of materials, equipment and supplies. Additional duties will include leading/instructing individuals on the installation of exterior prefabricated products. You will also be required to estimate project costs and provide quotes for both commercial and residential clients.

 

You will also be required to install interior prefabricated products – including specialized vinyl – clean, measure and prepare surfaces; sculpt, engrave and make mold mediums as well as work with silicone. You will work on and around windows, cabinets, vanities and kitchen and other interior areas.

 

You will have a valid drivers license and be willing to travel to and from client and project work sites. Qualified candidates will have at least three (3) years of experience in a similar position, have graduated high school to a secondary level and be proficient in English, including reading, writing, oral comprehension and speaking.

 

The location of work is 587 Bay Street, DHC Building – Suite E, Victoria, BC V8T 1P5. This position is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week, available immediately. Weekly hours are flexible upon agreement with and taking into account the needs of the company. The position pays $38 per hour with performance bonuses available. It is located on site and there are no options for remote or online work.

JOB REQUIREMENT 

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Minimum 2 years experience 

Language: English

Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and chisels

Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

Excellent understanding of safety rules and regulations

Good physical condition and endurance

Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

JOB DUTIES

Prepare estimates of labor and/or material costs

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools

Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems

Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware

Schedule and coordinate work on sites

Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
