Landscaping Supervisor

Conestoga Contracting Group Inc. in Elmira, Ontario is seeking one (1) full-time Landscaping Supervisor. This position will be required to supervise a team of Landscaping Labourers and also operate a variety of tools and equipment, when needed.

Job Duties:

 

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of landscaping labourers who maintain lawns, gardens, athletic fields, golf courses, cemeteries, parks, interior plantscapes and other landscaped areas
  • Lead the execution of maintenance service agreements, planning requirements for labour, equipment to successful ensure delivery of our promises to our clients on time, on budget and on scope
  • Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs and hedges and the construction and installation of fences, decks, patios, walkways and retaining walls
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units
  • Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
  • Requisition supplies and materials
  • Maintain financial and personnel records
  • Provide training to workers regarding job duties and company policies and ensure dress code and safety policies are followed
  • May provide snow removal services during winter months
  • May perform the same duties as workers supervised.

Skills Requirements/Level of Education Required:

Completion of secondary school (or equivalent) is required.

 

Skill Requirements/Work Experience:

Must have one (1) year of previous experience as a landscaping labourer or similar role in landscaping. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift. Must have valid G drivers licence.

JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience. Relevant trade certifications are an asset.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in carpentry

  • Language: English

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Study blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project specifications.

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.

  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware.

  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.

  • Prepare estimates of labor and material costs.

  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites.

  • Maintain, repair, and renovate wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.

  • Inspect and replace damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines to complete tasks.

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.

  • Collaborate with other construction professionals.
