About us:
Joyce’s Deli, we are located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. We are currently looking for a permanent full-time cook position for our deli. If you are interested in the job, please submit your application by email.

Job Duties:
– Plan menus and estimate food requirements for their realization
– Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
– Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
– Inspect kitchens and food service areas
– Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
– Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
– Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
– Clean kitchen and work areas
– Manage kitchen operations

Employment Requirements:
Languages: English
Education: Completion of secondary school is usually required.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Cook Trade Certification / Cook Red Seal Certificate
Experience : several years of commercial cooking experience may be required.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Standing for extended periods

Responsibilities

Tasks:

Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
Storytelling
Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
