As part of our expansion plan, we are currently hiring Ethnic Food Cooks specialized in South East Asian cuisine to deliver authentic and quality dishes to our growing customers. Position:  Ethnic Food Cooks

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food items following standardized recipes and portion sizes.
  • Execute cooking techniques typical of South East Asian cuisine, such as stir-frying, steaming, grilling, and deep-frying.
  • Prepare and marinate meats, mostly pork, seafood, and vegetables according to traditional methods to enhance flavor.
  • Ensure that dishes are cooked to perfection, with attention to taste, texture, and presentation.
  • Assist with development of new recipes and adapt existing ones to meet the tastes that reflects the cultural and culinary diversity of South East Asia, including specialties from countries like Thailand and Philippines.
  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
  • Monitor food inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies. Ensure that waste is minimized.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and regulations regarding food preparation, health safety and sanitation.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals.
  • May drive a vehicle if qualified and authorized to do so.

Employment requirements

  • Secondary school.
  • 2 years of commercial cooking experience.

OR Alternate equivalent qualification may be considered

  • Experience in South East Asian cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation techniques, and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of proper food safety practices and procedures.
  • Available to work on flexible shifts, day, evening, nights and week-ends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing to travel for extended periods. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
  • A driver’s license is an asset but not mandatory
  • English language.

 

Wage

$18.00 per hour
