Working conditions: Salary $25.00 per hour, full time, 30 hours per week, regular, permanent

Tasks:

Prepare dough for sweet goods, pies, rolls, batters for cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to Eastern European style recipes or special customer orders.

Prepare variety of traditional pastries, cookies and cakes such as: “Sernik “– Polish cheesecake, “Makowiec” – poppy seed roll, “ Szarlotka” – apple cake, “Babka “– light, yeasted bundt-style cake, “Keks”– fruitcake with dried fruits and nuts, “Karpatka” – cream-filled choux pastry cake,” Kremówka” – custard cream cake with puff pastry, “Miodownik”– honey layered cake, “Piernik” – Polish gingerbread, and variety of cookies such as: “Pierniczki” – gingerbread, buttery shortbread-style cookies, “Faworki”  – light, crispy fried pastry ribbons, “Rogale Marcinskie” – Polish St. Martin’s croissant,  “Pączki “– filled doughnuts , “Rogaliki”– small crescent-shaped cookies, “Jagodzianki” – yeast dough filled with fresh blueberries, and many others.

Set time and speed controls for mixing machines, or blending machines, or mixes by hand so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions, measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or whipped cream, using scales or graduated containers, Bake mixed dough and batters, Prepare special orders, Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods, Draw up production schedules, Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards, Inspect kitchen and food service areas, Operate baking related machinery, follow up hygiene and safety procedures

Requirements:  Secondary (high) school, 5 years of experience in pastry making, personal suitability: dependability, reliability, team player, specialization: sweet goods such as desserts and pastries, rolls, pies, wedding and specialty cakes, donuts and muffins, cake decorating specialty – Eastern European pastries.

– Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.

– Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas that reflect our dedication to authentic, nourishing cuisine. 

– Monitor inventory and requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.
