Daycare Attendant

We are looking for a pet daycare attendant/dog handler for our busy Dog Daycare located at 5513 3rd St SE Calgary AB T2H 1K1. Candidates should have a minimum of 1-year experience in a dog daycare environment or equivalent. Candidates must possess a valid Pet First Aid Certificate. This role requires you to stand on your feet for 8 hours a day and lift up to 50lbs, so being in good physical shape and having good balance and stability is needed. In addition to ensuring the safety of 25 (+/-) dogs, you would spend the majority of your time cleaning, from mopping up after the elimination of dogs to cleaning the walls, equipment, and yards. You will bathe, prepare food, feed, clean and disinfect cages, maintain order supplies and care for dogs. Confidence, experience, and fast reflexes are necessary for breaking up altercations between dogs. Good English language is a must in order to communicate with clients (which will be both written and verbal), and Spanish is an asset. Shifts can start as early as 6am, so having your own vehicle or reliable transportation year-round is necessary. Hours will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, with start times ranging from 6am to 10am throughout the week and finishing 9 hours later, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. A lot of people think working in a dog daycare is fun, and they would be playing with puppies all day, but it is not quite like that… the environment is loud, smelly, dirty, and very busy. It is also rewarding to see dogs playing with one another and sending them home happy. This position starts at $15/hour and, based on experience and tenure, will move up towards $17/hour. 30 to 40 hours per week. Benefits include health care plan, free parking, learning/training paid by employer, team building and wellness program.
